Types of Websites You Can Build
There are literally tons of different websites that you can make as a webmaster and you’ll probably end up trying at least a few of these out either to make money or for fun. You don’t want to limit yourself too only one type of website for your entire career as a webmaster because you could be drastically cutting into your earnings potential. Some types of websites do well on some niches and then other niches do well for other types of websites so you need to find what works. Even if something is working to a small degree there could be better options out there for you which is why I teach all new webmasters to experiment freely and not worry too much about spreading themselves to thin. If you notice that you have websites sitting around after a little while then you can simply sell them off and make some quick money off them. Now we’ll begin to look at some of the different types of websites that you can build.
Content Website
Content websites are generally used for making money off of Adsense and can be either small or large. People make niche content websites that consist of five to ten pages where some people make larger content websites that consist of fifty to a hundred pages. This is probably the easiest website to build and doesn’t requite much experience or work. Once it’s set-up all you need to do is build links and promote the website, and you can also add some more content sporadically.
Blog
There are lots blog providers and I’ll leave it up to you to decide what provider you’d like to use. As a blog owner you need to be willing to write a lot of content as you will need to update your blog often. A blog was once used for people to keep online journals, but now you can find blogs being used by millions of people for every type of reason. The possibilities to make money are large and there are tons of different ways to make money off your blog.
E-Commerce Store
It may be difficult for you to make on your own, but you can buy scripts and software that will allow you to make your own online store to sell whatever you want. You also don’t need your own products because there are plenty of affiliates out there that you can use to sell there products and make a commission. Stores are becoming more popular on the internet, but you’ll need to be dedicated to it if you want it to make money. Stores typically take months to even a full year before they start generating any decent revenue, and if you don’t have time for this then avoid stores for now.
Forum
A forum is a place where people come together and talk about what they enjoy. For instance you could make a sports blog and grow a community of sports lovers who love talking about sports. You will spend most of your time promoting and link building rather then writing content in this type of website, so if you dislike writing then forums might work for you. Running a forum will keep you busy though and I haven’t found the courage to start my own yet. It’s still an option though to earn money off of so you need to keep it in mind, and you never know maybe running a forum is your forte.
These are four types of websites that you could make and probably are the four most popular forms of websites that you see out there nowadays. I would recommend starting out with building some of these to see how you do, and then moving onto more specialized projects if you succeed. There is plenty of opportunity in the above types of websites though and if you can’t make revenue off the four types of websites above then you probably shouldn’t even try being a webmaster.
